Section 7: HR, finance-accounting, legal-compliance, procurement and operations
Scenario 63: Structuring CVs without making decisions
Level: Advanced · Tools: ChatGPT file uploads; an organisation-approved Business or Enterprise workspace for sensitive candidate files [79] [80].
Who and in what situation
Selin is a recruitment manager at an e-commerce company in İstanbul. She wants to turn CVs for technical positions into a shared evidence table for the panel to use.
How it is done today
Three managers read the CVs separately, combine their notes and describe the same experience in different terms. Personal opinions can appear to be criteria.
How to do it with AI
- She removes names, phone numbers, email addresses, photos, addresses and irrelevant fields in line with company policy; she obtains HR and legal approval.
- She attaches the anonymised CVs and competency list using Add photos & files. ChatGPT supports document comparison and information extraction functions [79].
- For each candidate, she requests only explicit evidence, unmet criteria and “no information” fields; she does not request ranking or screening out.
- She checks a sample of the table she leaves to the human panel against the original CVs.
Example prompt
Compare the following anonymised CVs only against {approved criteria list}. For each file, create columns for criterion, explicit evidence in the CV, section containing the evidence, no information and follow-up question for a human to ask. Do not rank candidates, screen them out, make hiring decisions or infer personal characteristics. Do not assume a skill is present if it is not stated: {files}Evidence and real-world example
Reuters reported that Amazon’s experimental tool, trained on male-dominated CV data, penalised “women’s” expressions and women’s colleges, and that the team was later disbanded [121].
Points to consider
AI Act Annex III lists recruitment, application filtering and candidate evaluation among high-risk use cases in employment [122]. OpenAI’s policy dated 29 October 2025 prohibits the automation of high-impact decisions in employment without human review [123]. The KVKK guide also warns against transferring candidate information to uncontrolled tools [11].
