Section 3: Creating documents, reports, presentations and visual content
Scenario 24: Turkish editing and terminology consistency
Level: Intermediate · Tools: Microsoft Editor and Copilot in Word; Office proofing tools; an appropriate Microsoft 365 or Copilot license
Who and in what situation
Aylin is an account manager at an agency. Every month, she gives the Turkish performance report a final read-through. Using both “teslimat” and “teslim” for the same concept, as well as varying English terms, requires additional checks.
How it is done today
Aylin reviews Word’s underlines, reads the report to identify wording issues, and asks a team member to check proper names and numbers.
How to do it with AI
- Add Turkish as an authoring and proofing language via File > Options > Language. Under Review > Language > Set Proofing Language, select Detect language automatically if needed. [60]
- Open Microsoft Editor’s checks and review spelling, grammar, and writing refinement suggestions. Microsoft’s table lists all three groups for Turkish. [61]
- Select questionable paragraphs and use Copilot > Chat only to ask it to find inconsistent terms. Compare the suggestion with the team glossary. [55]
- Use Auto Rewrite for corrections that preserve meaning, and compare with the original sentence before selecting Replace. [59]
- If you use Google Docs, do not assume it has built-in checking for Turkish. Google’s page lists suggestions for six other languages. [62]
Example prompt
Check this report for terminology consistency without changing its meaning. Use the list of {preferred terms} as the basis. Identify different expressions used for the same concept and indicate the section where each occurs. Do not alter proper names, numbers, dates, or product codes. Briefly explain the reason before suggesting a change.Evidence and real-world example
No organizational case study was found. The basis is Microsoft’s explanation that all three Editor checking groups are available for Turkish and that the proofing language can be set separately in Office. [60] [61]
Points to consider
Do not accept all Editor suggestions; proper names and organization acronyms may be flagged incorrectly. Since built-in Turkish spelling and grammar support for Google Docs is not listed on this page, do not make such a claim. [55] [59] [62]
